The ALY 4 wheeled covered goods wagon was of steel construction and had Roller Bearings and was suitable for goods trains only. The wagon was constructed to fit 8 pallets and could be loaded by forklift, which could be driven inside the wagon from the platform. The weight of the forklift could not exceed 4.3t gross. The wagon had a number of codes as listed below and could carry 12.2t and the average tare weight was 8.9t. The wagon ran on all class of lines and was used to carry goods to departmental wagons and today they are used as storage sheds and now sit on stumps instead of rails.
