Running Numbers: There were 461 MTW wagons constructed: 1-11, 13-29, 31-54, 56-60, 62-68, 70, 71, 74-79, 81-97, 99-102, 104-106, 108, 109, 112-115, 118-120, 122-124, 126-133, 135-140, 142-145, 147-150, 154-156, 158-175, 177-179, 181-183, 185-195, 197-204, 206, 208, 210-223, 225-227, 229-235, 237-241, 243, 245-261, 263, 265-271, 273, 274, 301, 302, 305, 306, 308-310, 312-319, 321, 323, 325-330, 333, 334, 336-341, 344, 346-363, 365-367, 369-375, 377-384, 386-392, 394-396, 398-423, 425-428, 431-440, 442, 444-448, 450-459, 461, 463-492, 494, 495, 497, 500, 744-800. The MTW wagons were introduced as part of the Lend Lease arangement between the U.S.A. and Quensland Railways. All wagons were built at the Ipswich Workshops to American standard drawings. The classification MTW actually stands for "Military Transport Wagon". In December 1982 there were still 262 unmodified MTW wagons in service. One MTW had 3" timber rails placed around the edge of the floor and this wagon was reclassified as W. | ||||||||||
