This is a standard 20 foot wagon, ALG wagons (like most with QR) came in several sizes from 15 foot up to 20 foot. These wagons were initially used for the transport of fruit, cream and other perishables. Mainly the ALG could be found on mixed passenger trains in suburban Brisbane. With the introduction of refrigerated wagons (ABG, CMI, CR, etc.) these wagons were relegated to the haulage of general freight and could be found on pretty much any train up until 1987 when all 4 wheel wagons were withdrawn from revenue service. In December 1982 there were still 44 ALG wagons in traffic.
