ABG CLASS FOUR WHEEL BUTTER WAGON

Running Numbers 7195, 7303 to 7314, 9484 to 9503, 12411 to 12430.

There is a number of ABG wagons that are 1' shorter in length than the standard unit, the running numbers being 7196 to 7201.
These wagons were frequently seen travelling to and from the Kingston and Caboulture butter factories. ABG wagons varied widely in both size and design, 9499 for instance, has a 16 foot underframe. The length of the ABG wagons could be anywhere from 15 foot to 18 foot. Also note that 9499 has no roof hatches, many ABG wagons had roof hatches (approx 3 foot x 18 inch). Some ABG wagons even had small inspection hatches located in the centre of the end walls just below the roof trim. Many ABG wagons were reclassified, such as ABGC (for cheese).
